Nounaquariums
FrenchNounaquariums m. pl.
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. An aquarium (plural aquariums or aquaria) is a vivarium consisting of at least one transparent side in which water-dwelling plants or animals are kept. Fishkeepers use aquaria to keep fish, invertebrates, amphibians, marine mammals, turtles, and aquatic plants. The term combines the Latin root aqua, meaning water, with the suffix -arium, meaning "a place for relating to". An aquarist owns fish or maintains an aquarium, typically constructed of glass or high-strength plastic. Cuboid aquaria are also known as fish tanks or simply tanks, while bowl-shaped aquaria are also known as fish bowls. Size can range from a small glass bowl to immense public aquaria. Specialised equipment maintains appropriate water quality and other characteristics suitable for the aquarium's residents. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How do they get the animals in aquariums? Q. How do they get the animals in aquariums like the Georgia Aquarium or the Adventure Aquarium? Asked by yonkersboy93 - Thu Mar 5 20:52:27 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. These animals are often not bred in captivity. They are shipped from the wild, where they are caught in brutal ways. They are torn away from their families and shipped to be "trained" as circus clowns. They go through mental breakdowns and often try to kill themselves (stop breathing, or ram their heads repeatedly into walls). It is a very violent business keeping Marine Mammals in captivity. The animals welfare isnt taken into consideration. The aquariums make tons of money off of them, and when they die they get a new one. Do some research online about Marine Mammals in Captivity, you will be horrified by what you find. Answered by Catawba - Thu Mar 5 21:08:56 2009 Where can I find regular aquariums? Q. I know I can go to my local pet store, but I wanted to know some websites as to where I can find just regular aquariums. I don't want a kit, just the glass. Don't say craigslist or anything either!! (-: Thanks for your time. Asked by billcollins531 - Sat Jul 19 14:25:50 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. Ordering tanks off the web will be expensive because of shipping. You can just google "aquariums" and tons of stores will pop up. Answered by onefinesacaman - Sat Jul 19 16:58:12 2008 In aquariums what kind of disease can new plants spread?
Q. I heard all kinds of diseases spread by plants in the aquarium but nobody was 100% sure ( they spoke from hearsay ). So can anybody give me some links or a list of the of diseases carried by aquarium plants that can affect my fish. Asked by DEK - Wed Mar 21 13:31:11 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. It's not the plants that spread the disease, but the water from the tank they were in. Fungal spores, parasites, bacteria, and viruses that are in the water from already diseased fish may get included with our plant - a lot, if it's bagged with water, less if there's no water added to your bag (but there will still be some water clinging to your plants). It's always a good practice to never add water from a store to your tank - you add all the nasty things in it as well. Fish should be acclimated with water from your tank in a separate container (this gets them used to the new water chemistry, but also dilutes any potential parasites) and netted to be placed in their tank. Plants should be rinsed well - this may also help remove… [cont.] Answered by copperhead - Wed Mar 21 13:52:41 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "aquariums" Blue Ocean film festival moves to Peninsula
