is it alot harder to care for a marine aquarium than it is to care for a tropical one? Q. i would like a marine but have heard it is very hard to care for them. i already have a tropical but want more colour and nicer fish so want to get a marine too. It would be just a wee bit easier since you have some experience already with freshwater fishes but still not a decision to be lightly taken or rushed into. The worst cases are those absolute novices who rushed to get a marine tank after watching 'Finding Nemo' and even more reprehensible are the retailers who blatantly sold to such people without any responsible advice & concern for the wellbeing of the fish. I would suggest to read a good marine aquarium reference book that details the various equipment required, kind of regular maintenance needed and also the specific needs of the marine fishes & invertebrates you intend to keep. Research on the cost of all the equipment. Read about… [cont.] Answered by Stillwaters - Wed Jan 30 11:41:03 2008 Marine Aquarium covered in red stuff? Q. There's a marine aquarium with coral and clown fish and a shrimp in it. It's all become covered in red stuff lately and looks unhealthy. I looked up algae in a few books but they just talk about kelp. How can I fix the problem? It's not my aquarium. It's the office aquarium. So please don't judge me as being a bad owner! The reason I say this is that having kept marine aquariums for about thirty years the times I have had problems with the Red Slime is when the tank is first set up therefore the water quality is normally fairly good. The slime seems to thrive on fresh marine water. The other book answer about constant water changes is nonsense. After your water has been in the tank for about a year the red slime will have gone (trust me!). There is a lot we just dont know about marine environments but constant water changes just disrupt the tank in my experience, I currently have a five foot (160 gallon approx) tank that hasnt had any water change… [cont.] Answered by trevscuba1 - Sun Sep 28 16:57:16 2008 What would be a perfect arrangment of fishes for a beginners marine aquarium?
Q. 200 liters. (around 55 gallons) i obdiusly have an idead of what i want, but i just want to read some opinions, about what other people would do Asked by imaninja - Fri May 2 11:56:54 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Unless you already maintained and know how to keep a saltwater tank. Saltwater Tanks are not for beginners who have no clue how to even start one. It takes more work and effort and alot of reading up on, unlike freshwater when you just stick everything together. Saltwater tanks is more of a science.
